Sanganer, fifteen kilometres south of Jaipur, has been a centre of hand block printing since the 16th century. Wooden blocks are carved by hand, dyes are mixed in stone vats, fabric is laid out on long printing tables, and each stamp is placed by an artisan working from memory and trained eye. Every print has slight irregularity — that is how you know it is real. Mass-printed canvas totes from quick-commerce platforms cannot replicate this; they can only imitate the surface aesthetic.
